Textile Merchandising: An Ultimate Tool for the Textile Business:

Textile merchandising is not a familiar term to us. Though all the textile professionals are known for garments merchandising. Textile merchandising and garments merchandising, both are very important for completing a ready-made garments (RMG) export order. As its importance, today I will present here the overview of textile merchandising, which includes definition and methods of textiles merchandising.

Textile Merchandising:

Textile merchandising is that which is related with from fiber import to yarn in-housed in the knitting factory. Textile merchandising consists of fiber and yarn merchandising. It starts from fiber import to the spinning factory and ends in yarn in-housed into the knitting factory. Fiber merchandiser and yarn merchandiser are done all the duties here.

Method of Textile Merchandising:

Textile merchandising can be done in two ways. Those are-

  1. Total textiles merchandising followed by two different merchandisers,
  2. Total textiles merchandising followed by the single merchandiser.

All the above ways have discussed in the following:

1. Total textile merchandising followed by two different merchandisers:

In this method, total textiles merchandising should be followed by two different merchandisers named fiber merchandiser and yarn merchandiser. Fiber merchandiser imports fibers from foreign countries for producing yarn. On the other hand, yarn merchandiser collects yarn from spinning factory for producing fabric.

The detailed working procedure of fiber merchandiser and yarn merchandiser have mentioned the below:

Working procedure of fiber merchandiser:
Fiber merchandiser works on behalf of the spinning factory. Importing different types of fibers from foreign countries is the main duty of fiber merchandiser. His duty is limited from fiber import to reaching in the spinning factory. Sometimes the marketing department of the spinning factory has done this job instead of fiber merchandiser. According to fiber requisition, fiber merchandiser contacts with the leading fiber producing countries from the world via email or phone and confirm all the necessary terms for importing fiber. The leading fiber producing countries in the world are China, India, United States, Pakistan, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Australia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Greece. After importing fiber, its sent o the spinning factory for producing the required types of yarn.

Working procedure of yarn merchandiser:
Yarn merchandiser works on behalf of the knitting factory. Buying the required types of yarn from the spinning factory is the main duty of the yarn merchandiser. His duty is limited from buying yarn to in-house those in the knitting factory. Sometimes the marketing department of the buying house or garments factory has done this job instead of yarn merchandiser. In this case, the yarn merchandiser starts his duty from the spinning factory. According to the buyer’s recommendation, the yarn merchandiser contacts the marketing department of spinning for buying required types and amounts of yarn via email or phone and in-housed those in the knitting factory.

2. Total textile merchandising followed by single merchandiser:

In this method, a single merchandiser has done all the duties of textiles merchandising, where he works both as fiber merchandiser and yarn merchandiser. Also, he works on behalf of the spinning factory and knitting factory at the same time. He is the only one who provides fiber to the spinning factory and provides yarn to the knitting factory. He starts his duty from fiber import from the foreign countries and ends in in-housing yarn at the knitting factory.
