Roles and Responsibilities of a Garment Merchandiser:
An apparel merchandiser acts as a link with the buyer, various departments within the company, and allied companies that help the garment merchandiser to execute the order. Allied companies mean embroidery, printing, fabric, accessories companies, and job workers [factories for stitching]. These need not be houses, they can be out-sourced. The apparel merchandiser needs to understand the input expected out of him to prove an asset to the company and make him successful on the carrier front.
The process flow of understanding the role and responsibilities of an apparel merchandiser is as given below. The garment merchandiser’s role is to oversee the order right from the time the order is received from the buyer till calculating the account profitability, shipment, and getting the payment in the bank. To put it in a few words an apparel merchandiser analyses, plans acquire handles, and controls the entire order from start to finish.
