How to Remove Fused Edge During Fabric Cutting?

Fused edge in cutting fabric is one of the major faults of cutting section in the readymade garments sector. It hampers the whole process of apparel manufacturing. Fused Edge in Fabric:

During fabric cutting, when the parts of the fabric are cut from the fabric layer, there is generated friction between the fabric and the cutting knife. As a result, heat is generated in the cutting knife. Sometimes it’s seen that excessive heat generation by friction may cause a burn of the edge of cutting fabric. It affects deeply in the case of thermoplastic fiber.

1. Reducing ply height:

During fabric spreading, one thing should be carefully handled the number of plies not more than three hundred. If it exceeds the definite number then there is too much possibility of producing fused edge in the fabric. 2. Sharpening the knife properly:

It is one of the important points during cutting the fabric. The cutting knife must be sharpening properly, otherwise, it will create problems during fabric cutting and produced fused edges in the fabric.

3. Using silicon lubricating agents during cutting:

Using a silicon lubricating agent in the cutting knife helps to remove the fused edge in the cutting fabric.

4. Using anti fusing paper:

It is the other way that reduces the possibility of producing a fused edge in the fabric. So, during fabric cutting, anti fusing paper should be used for getting fault free cutting fabrics.

5. Reducing the speed of the cutting knife:

Sometimes it is seen that fabrics are cut by using a cutting knife at fast speed. But it creates the possibility of producing fused edges in the cutting fabrics. So, cutting knife speed must be reduced to get fault free cutting fabrics.
